Wow, it's been a long time since I've blogged about our homeschool days. I hope to get back to blogging regularly again. I'm excited about our new school year. Two of my kiddos have graduated. Joshua and Annette. Wow, all I can say is wow. It seems like yesterday Annette was starting Rod & Staff phonics.
This year I have another one graduating and two more in a row after that!!! Caleb is in 12th, Brent 11th, Ethan 10th, and Lance 8th. I have six years left then my homeschooling days are over. It makes me sad to think about it (and happy at the same time, hehe). Homeschooling is not easy (at least for this mama) but so worth it.
Some reasons as to why I haven't blogged in so long, the main reason is my kiddos don't like me taking pics of them anymore. They are not young and "cute" if you know what I mean. Without pictures, my posts look a bit boring. As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand word", it just seems like they say a lot.
Another reason is my computers both the laptop and desktop don't want to "grab" my photos from either the cell phone or the sd card. It's so frustrating. Sometimes I have to put them on Facebook, then download them from Facebook and it's time-consuming. Very annoying. It takes the fun out of blogging when it is so much work.
Last year I only blogged 42 times and this year only once! I miss blogging and hope to share our days with you all again.
We are not the perfect examples of homeschoolers, there are ups and many downs in our days. We have struggles with our schooling which makes it hard to share and be totally raw because my kiddos are teens and venturing out into the world now. I don't want to write too much about their personal life and put it out there for everyone to "see". I will mainly focus on our school days and what we did without getting too personal about what they struggle with academically. I know that seems fake but it's their life and I'm sure they don't want everyone at our church, their job, their local buddies to read about their academic struggles, so vague it's going to have to be.
This was the last picture I took of all the kiddos together as a homeschool picture. I must admit, I do wish I was more faithful with this and did this yearly. I look back and am kinda sad we don't have more "school" pics. If you are just beginning your homeschool journey, take those pictures!
My beautiful babies, Joshua is going to the local college majoring in business. We found out he has dyscalculia and is dyslexic (just like I thought while we were homeschooling, a mama knows these things, even without a diagnosis -wink). This is why he struggled so much in certain areas in our homeschool. Thankfully he loves to read and reads a lot- so dyslexic doesn't mean a child can't read. He still struggles in certain areas but he's super positive and works harder. He is doing well in college.
Annette is taking a year off from school which her dad and I totally support. She has worked hard these past twelve years. She did seven years of Heart of Dakota which is a pretty challenging (in a good way) program, she loved it and thrived with it. She will work with her dad. She has been learning how to keep the books for our little business. Her dad has been teaching her some real-life learning skills. She would like to start college in a year or so and major in accounting.
Caleb is working at Starbucks and loves it. He loves having a job. He works with his dad too and will graduate this year (so weird).
The rest of the boys are homeschooling on =)
Me, I've been busy working on my website called The Thinking Tree Branch -loving the Thinking Tree, social media on my Facebook Page. Just trying to earn a little book money (happy face). It's hard though.
Right now my website is mostly Thinking Tree but I may "branch" out, hehe, little play on words since many refer to it as The Branch, 😄
We're Back!
